Mrs. Edna J. (Shorty) Cofer, 82
~~Mrs. Edna J. (Shorty) Cofer, age 82, of Flowery Branch passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Gainesville, surrounded by her family.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2018 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at New Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Stewart and Rev. Denton Vaughn will officiate. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2018 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cofer was born October 20, 1935 to the late Pat Edward & Lula Viola Mayhue in Duluth, Georgia. She was a member of Greater Love Baptist Church.
Mrs. Cofer is survived by her son, Anthony Cofer of Flowery Branch; daughter & son-in-law, Anita & Stephen Johnson of Hiawassee; son & special friend, Scott Cofer & Amanda Swafford of Flowery Branch; granddaughter, Crystal & Rafel Ortiz of Hiawasse; and grandson, Stephen & Abby Cochran of Flowery Branch. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lloyd Cofer; grandson, Christopher James Johnson; brother, Marlon Mayhue; and sisters, Essie Cain and Vera Garmon.

ANTHONY, SCOTT AND ANITA I am so sorry to hear of your mothers passing please know if my health was like it use to be I would have come for the services I have thought a lot about Aunt Edna since I heard about her being so sick at least now she is at peace...resting safely in the arms of JESUS...if you need anything just call or email me on facebook....just think of it no need for oxygen anymore and there will be no need for wheelchairs either................wont it be wonderful there ,having no burdens to bear.......

My deepest condolences, mamá shorty was one of the sweetest women I've met. She was like my own mother, in times of need. May she rest with our heavenly father.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember all the good times serving you and Scott at sonnys bbq in Oakwood. We had a lot of good conversations!
