What a kind and warm hearted guy. You lit up the room with your humor, zest, and big handsome smile. You loved and respected God’s creation with a deep passion and loyalty. How blessed you were to have such a supportive and loving family. You finished your race and may you now enjoy all the rewards that go with an eternity in Christ. Until we see you again, we will rest in knowing that God chose you to be the angel watching over your family. How amazing the view must be.

I have no words to express the heartbreak I feel for the families effected by this. I have known Kurt since I was 12 years old and can only say positive things. Kurt always has a smile on his face an enjoyed a good time. I hope Kendra, you and your family can find peace right now and I know Kurt is in a better place without any worries. I wish you all love and to hold God close to your heart to find the peace you need to get through this difficult time.

I have been thinking a lot of Kurt since I heard the sad news. I feel very fortunate to have known Kurt and had so much fun the few times we were together. Kurt had a way of always making me feel good. I think that is why he had so many friends and in some ways, might have contributed to his struggles. In 1990, I met my Mom in Atlanta and we stayed with Aunt Cathy. Kurt was living there at the time and we had so much fun together. One night we all drove down to the Atlanta Underground and Kurt was our tour guide. Also, at the time, I was a Civil War history buff. My last day in Atlanta, Kurt took me, my Mom and Aunt Cathy to Stone Mountain. I imagine Kurt did not want to go, but he went anyway and it was a lot of fun. He was just so great to around. In 1998,Kurt moved to Colorado Springs and I lived in Denver. I only saw him a few times, but have great memories. I wish I could have spent more time with him...I don't think I did enough for Kurt. This is something I will think about a long time. Kurt, wherever you are now, I hope the pains are gone and I will miss you very. much. Your cousin, Bill Powers, Jr.

Fineis family: My deepest condolences. You are on my heart and in my prayers. My friend, Kurt, you are on my heart so much. It is still shocking that today is your celebration of life. As I am getting ready this morning to attend your service, so many memories are flooding back. Thank you for always being so sweet to me and for accepting my silliness all these years (which we had in common and I think is what led us to dating in high school -- our Homecoming picture alone says just how much we didn't take ourselves too seriously -- you with your slacks tucked in your socks and me with my eyes closed and a Madonna inspired look). You always made everyone smile -- and I remember all the fun notes you wrote me in high school about how you saw a penguin water skiing behind a convertible on the way to school that morning. Just silly stuff to make me laugh. You were always so thoughtful, too. I remember a time in high school when every Monday after work (at Mr.Chang's around the corner from my parent's house), you would bring me a fun present (a rose pulling up the driveway behind a little toy truck, an Alf watch, and Alf punching bag -- anything Alf because I loved that furry sarcastic alien so much. We both loved the furry souls. I will cherish the time later in life (after college) and we played volleyball together with friends as part of Atlanta Sport and Social -- then about 10 years ago when our paths crossed yet again and we had a fun day taking your Maizey and my Sammy to Piedmont dog park. It had just rained and was a mud pit -- but none of us cared. You are an amazing soul, Kurt. You brought joy to so many people and lit up their lives just with your smile. I am envisioning you now reunited with your Maizey. We were blessed to know you. I love you, my friend.
