Mr. Lonnie (Alec) Alexander Bell, 93

Mr. Lonnie (Alec) Alexander Bell, age 93, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020 in Cleveland, Georgia.

Celebration of Life services will be held at a later date, due to the current health pandemic.

Lonnie was born December 20, 1926 in Gainesville, Georgia. He was the son of the late Gordon James Bell and Bertha Estell (Ward) Bell.

He retired from Chicopee Mill. He lived off Poplar Springs Road for 31 years and then lived in Chicopee Village for 10 years. At 93, his heart got tired and stopped and he went home. He was not a preacher, but he allowed his life to speak for itself. We truly loved him. He served his country in the United States Army. He and his wife raised 3 children, and he loved his dogs. He named them after United States Presidents. He enjoyed a chew of tobacco every now and then, and he helped the Cannon family start a church. He loved sweet stuff, he cared for his family and he showed his strength when he lost his son and his son-in-law way too soon. He got to see them and his wife again today and his heart was just fine. We will forever miss you and glad you are now healed.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lillie Belle (Adams) Bell; son, Leslie Owen Bell; brothers and sisters, Avis Norris, Nell Wilson, Mary Loux, Lee Bell and Lucille O’Kelley.

He is survived by his daughter, Beverly (Bell) Rowan; son, Maurice Arnold Bell; sister-in-law, Tempa Ruth Truelove; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family and friends also survive.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Zach and Lacey Cloud, Stanley Whitmire, Wanda Keith and Rene Wright. They would also like to thank the staff at Friendship Health and Rehab in Cleveland.

Memorial Park Funeral Home North Riverside Chapel, 989 Riverside Dr. is in charge of arrangements.

Beverly, so sorry to hear of the death of your dad. I knew him from Chicopee and the Brady Reunion. The obituary was certainly a tribute to him. He was a faithful man.
