Laura Ann Thornton Wood
Laura Ann Wood,
age 85, born in and lifelong resident of Hall County,
passed away on the morning of April 28, 2012.
She was the daughter of the late James J. Thornton and Mae Jane Reed
Thornton, lifelong residents of Hall Co.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oakwood. She was preceded in death by her husband of
53 years Donald T. Wood, and her brothers, James Banks (JB) Thornton and Doyal
S. Thornton, Sr.
Laura was a 1944
graduate of Oakwood
High School. She enjoyed meeting new friends during the
years she and her husband attended and operated their booth at local flea
markets during the 1980’s and 90’s. She
enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.
She loved them with every breath.
Laura is survived
by her son, Dwight Wood, Oakwood, Ga, grandchildren, Jerry A. Wood, Oakwood, Carrie L Wood,
Oakwood & Jamie L Wood, Sugar Hill, brother & sister in law Bill & Ann Thornton,
Lilburn, Ga, sister in law Elsie Thornton, Pensacola, Fl and Priscilla
Thornton, Cleveland, Ga, brothers in law and sisters in law, Tom and Mary Wood,
Jasper, Ga, Eric and Jo Ann Wood, Jasper, Ga, Betty Woody, Oakwood and Hubert
and Dot DeLong, Oakwood & numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other
relatives.
Visitation will be
Monday, April 30th, 2012 from 2:00PM – 4:00PM and 6:00PM – 8:00PM at
Memorial Park Funeral Home, Memorial Park Rd, Gainesville; Followed by a graveside service at 11:00AM on
Tuesday, May 1st at Oakwood Cemetery with the reverend Steve Fenlon
officiating.
Family and friends
will assemble at the funeral at 10:00am
