Mr. Paul Wofford Martin, 93

            Paul Wofford Martin, age 93 of Gainesville, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Northside Forsyth Hospital following sudden illness.

            Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 2:30 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Reverend Nathan Martin will officiate.  Reverend Carrell Pruitt will speak at the graveside.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 9, 2012 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.

            Mr. Martin was born July 21, 1918 to the late Mitchell Murphy Martin and Julia Evans Martin.  Paul was a native and lifelong resident of Forsyth County.  He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in The European Theatre, and was a retired carpenter, also taught Building Construction at Forsyth County High School.  Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Merle Palo Martin and his daughter, Glenda Sasser.  He was a member of Mayfield Baptist Church.

            Mr. Martin is survived by his sons & daughters-in-laws, Phillip & Rachel Martin and Chris & Cathy Martin, all of Gainesville, granddaughters, Paula Fowler of Gainesville, Donna (Jason) Marshall of Gainesville, Erin (Colin) Sattler of Lacey, Washington and Deborah (Kenny) Phillips of Oakwood, grandsons, Daniel (Megan) Martin of Dawsonville and Caleb (Katie) Martin of Dahlonega, 6 great-grandchildren, brother, C. F. Martin of Gainesville and a number of nieces and nephews.
