            Vaughn “Little John” Little, age 92 of Flowery Branch, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at his residence following a brief illness.

            Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.  Reverend Tony Lovell and Reverend Gary Johnson will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 from 6 – 9 pm and Wednesday, July 4, 2012 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 9 pm at the funeral home.

            Mr. Little was born April 20, 1920 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late William Doss Little and Alice C. Tanner Little.  He graduated from Oakwood High School in 1938 and served in the U. S. Air Force as a Sergeant.  Vaughn was a WW II Veteran, serving in Pacific Theater 5th Air Force 1156 QM.  He was a UDC Recipient of The WW II Medal of Honor.  He retired from General Motors with 30 years of service, living in Doraville before moving to Gainesville.  Vaughn enjoyed working in his garden and loved hunting in South Dakota with his friends.  He was a member of Union Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.  Vaughn was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge #212 Flowery Branch F & AM.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 70 years, Ora Lee “Bogie” Watkins Little, daughter, Cathy Yvonne Little, brothers, Howard Little, Gordon Little and Hubert Little, sisters, Pearl Shubert, Lula Cash and Beulah Westmoreland and numerous nieces and nephews. 

            Mr. Little is survived by his daughters and sons-in-laws, Gayle & Benny Leach of Sugar Hill and Debby & Robert Higginbotham of Flowery Branch, 4 grandchildren, Kimberly Leach, Tiffany Leach Johnson, Marcus V. McGahee and Kristen Dean Motes and 4 great-grandchildren, Kaleb Pass, Kane Pass, Olivia Motes and Anna McGahee.

            The family would like to thank the United Hospice for all their wonderful care.
