Ms. Juanita “Clairese” Harrison, age 74, of Gainesville, Georgia, died July 5, 2012, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 1:30 pm, Sunday, July 08, 2012 in the chapel of First Baptist Church, Gainesville. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Interment will be in Alta Vista Cemetery. Dr. Bill Coates and Reverend Bruce Fields will officiate.
Clairese was born and raised in Gainesville, GA, and attended the College of William and Mary where she majored in English Literature. After teaching high school English for 15 years in Virginia, she returned home to help care for her parents and work in their family business, Harrison Oil and Tire Company. Many years later she retired to her home at Skylake in Sautee Nacoochee, GA. There she was active in Skylake’s Property Owner’s Association and served on their board of directors and various committees. As her disease progressed, she left her mountain home and moved back to Gainesville to be near her family. We would like to say a special thank you to Odyssey Hospice and all the staff at Lanier Village for taking such wonderful care of Clairese in the last years of her life. Clairese was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Michael Harrison, Sr., and Irene Carlan Harrison.
She is survived by her brother, Clarence Michael “Mike” Harrison, Jr. and sister-in-law, Judy Evans Harrison of Gainesville; niece, Christy Harrison Fuller and her husband, Karl Fuller of Johns Creek, GA; nephew, James Michael “Jim” Harrison, Sr. and his wife Amy Harrison of Gainesville; great-niece, Emma Claire Fuller; great nephews, James Michael Harrison, Jr., Mason Fuller and William Harrison; and dear friend, Margie Hughes of Macon, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church building fund, Our Faith Our Future, 751 Green Street Gainesville, GA 30501.
