Mr. Merlin Anthony Connolly, 66

            Merlin Anthony Connolly, age 66 of Oakwood, passed away on Tuesday Morning, July 10, 2012 at Northside Forsyth Hospital following a extended illness.

            Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 11:00 am at the McEver Road United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Reverend Don Cooper will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.

            Mr. Connolly was born August 17, 1945 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Matthew Frances Connolly, Sr. and Helen Goode Connolly.  He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a Mail Carrier.  Merlin was preceded in death by his parents, his nephew, Matthew “Chip” Connolly and his sister-in-law, Linda Orange Connolly. 

            Mr. Connolly is survived by his wife, Maureen Connolly of Oakwood, his daughters & their husbands, Sharon & David Mooney of Gainesville and Lisa & Pat Lay of Gainesville, grandchildren, Jessica Chandler, Erin Mooney, Alexis Lay, J.P. Lay and Jonathan Mooney, all of Gainesville.
