Mrs. Mabel Irene Starr, 99

            Mabel Irene Starr, age 99 of Oakwood, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.

            Graveside services are scheduled for Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 11:00 am in Crestlawn Memorial Park, 2000 Marietta Blvd., NW, Atlanta, Georgia.  Dr. Bob Williamson will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 from 7 – 9 pm at the funeral home. 

            Mrs. Starr was born November 21, 1910 Wesley, Iowa to the late Charles Meliza and Sarah Adams Meliza.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, John Edward “Ted” Starr.  Mabel loved life and enjoyed traveling the world. 

            Mrs. Starr is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Margaret Starr & Leonard T. Woodruff of Gainesville, grandchildren, Pam Pitts of Oakwood, Sherrill & Charlie Chatham of Oakwood and Kathleen & John Hammond of Dahlonega, great-grandchildren, Christy & Brent Goehringer, Tina & Sean Mershon, Tiffany & Cole Green, Austin & Krystle Chatham, Stephen Hammond and Justyne Hammond, great-great-grandchildren, Emilie Mershon, Gavin Green, Cooper Green and Aidan Chatham.
