            Joanne Tilley, age 75, of Robinhood Trail, Gainesville, Georgia passed away Monday, February 8, 2010 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

            Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, February 12, 2010 at 11:00 am at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Reverend Fabio Sotelo and Reverend Edward O’Connor will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 11, 2010 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home North-Riverside Chapel.

            Mrs. Tilley was born on May 1, 1934 to the late Eddie and Minerva Schoenbeck in Columbus, Wisconsin. Mrs. Tilley was a graduate of Sun Prairie High School in 1952.Joanne played girls basketball at Columbus High School. She was a substitute teacher at Sacred Hearts Catholic School in Sun Prairie, WI. Mrs. Tilley was actively involved in Wisconsin Democratic politics and volunteered for Congressman Robert William Kastenmeier’s re-election campaign. She moved to Gainesville in 1976, where she became involved with the Women’s Auxiliary and served as president from 1983-1984 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center and continued her service with the organization for several years. Joanne was an avid gardener, loved nature and birds, she was a very creative spirit, and loved to wear hats. Mrs. Tilley is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Tilley.

            Mrs. Tilley is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Anne McGonigle of Gainesville, daughter, Marjorie Noyes of Wisconsin, son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Jill McGonigle of Atlanta, son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Luann McGonigle of Gainesville, son and daughter-in-law, John and Wanda Stryny McGonigle of Wisconsin, daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Nick Brown, granddaughter and husband, Katherine McGonigle and Brian Schafer, granddaughter, Megan McGonigle, granddaughter, Tara McGonigle, grandson, Ryan McGonigle, grandson, Emmanuel Durocher, granddaughter, Erin McGonigle, granddaughter, Montana Thomas, granddaughter, Savannah Thomas, loving ex-husband Neil McGonigle of Sun Prairie, WI, who all loved her and will miss her dearly.
