Mrs. Jacqueline “Jackie” Peck Bird passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010 following an extended illness.

Survivors include her husband, Clayburn H. Bird; her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Tommy Farr; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Matthew and Heather  Wilbanks, grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jeremy and Dana Farr, and grandson and fiancé, Lija Farr and Heather Reed; great-grandchildren, Colton Wilbanks and Amelia Farr; and brother and sister-in-law, Hugh D. and  Johnnie Peck, and sister, Sammye Saxon.

Mrs. Bird was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Lester and Bessie Duckett Peck; son, C. Larry Bird; and her grandson, Brian Larry Bird.

Mrs. Bird was born in Lumpkin County, and grew up in Murrayville, Georgia, where she met and married her beloved husband of 62 years, Clayburn Bird.  She and her husband built their life together in the Murrayville area.  She was a homemaker, and she also helped her husband as a secretary with his business, Bird Chain Saw, for several years.  She was a member of Murrayville Congregational Holiness Church, and attended New Haven Congregational Holiness Church.

Mrs. Bird was an excellent cook and was well-known for the meals she lovingly prepared for her family.  She enjoyed bringing happiness to her family, celebrating holidays with her loved ones, and making each and every one of her family members feel special and appreciated.  She received great satisfaction from her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren and delighted in spending time with them.  Her life, though quiet and peaceful, reverberated love and embodied the qualities of a caring wife, mother, and “Nonna.”

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, North Riverside Chapel. The Rev. Dean Bryant and Rev. L. Wayne Hicks will officiate. Interment will follow at the Murrayville Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 9th, 2010, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
