Mr. Willie D. Clark, 76

Mr. Willie D Clark, 76, of Daville, Mississippi, passed away Friday, October 19, 2018, in the hospital, in Cebu, Philippines.

Mr. Clark at age 20 joined the U.S Army, being deployed to Vietnam 3 times.

Willie was a double purple- heart recipient, amongst many more medals while serving his country, as a soldier in the United States Army.

Willie was released from active duty to retire, in 1982, after serving in the Army for 20 years.

After retirement from the Army, Willie started a career with GEICO, where he served and retired as a District Manager.

Willie loved reading and listening to music. His greatest joy in life was family, and traveling the world.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cloud Dan Clark and May Ida (Spankes) Clark. He is survived by his daughter, Deannese Clark (Garry Maxey) of Gainesville, GA, grandchild, Donte Maxey, and other friends.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 12:00 pm Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton 2025 Mount Carmel Church Lane Canton, GA 30114.

            The family would like to extend a special thanks to Susan Henthorn Region 4 Deputy Director with Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America INC. Lauren (Lola) Barrow with the United States, State Department in Washington, DC, and Jerry Ward and the staff of Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel in Gainesville, GA, for their 10 months of faithful persistence in bringing Willie home.

I am so sorry for the loss of such a good and decent man; a servant to his country and a loving father. I am in awe of the people who were able to help you, Deannese, to get him back here where he belongs. I pray that this brings your family a bit of peace. Rest easy Willie - and welcome home.

You have my deepest sympathy Deannese, for I too lost a father. I hope that you will reach out to me. He was a good man, I just wish I knew him better.
