Willie "Glen" Davidson Obituary

In humble acceptance of God’s will, we celebrate the home-going of Willie “Glen” Davidson, age 89, of Gainesville, Georgia, who passed on Saturday, March 16, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Antioch United Methodist Church. Rev. Randy Strickland, Rev. Greg Burgner and Rev. Bill Martin will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Born on August 6, 1934 in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Willie Oscar and Woody Mae Cotton Davidson. He was retired from the United States Air Force.  Glen was dedicated to his church, Antioch United Methodist Church; Antioch Campground, and Georgia Tech football. He proudly served his country as a Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force.  He was known as a wonderfully gifted craftsman, and loved working with his hands, and spent many years in construction following his retirement.  There was literally nothing that Glen couldn’t build, make, or repair.  He was never without a story to tell, a military adventure to share, or soft, sage advice he was willing to impart.  His hands bore witness to his dedication, hard work and commitment yet he was a kind and gentle soul who lived sacrificially for his family, friends, and church – most often without fanfare.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Davidson was preceded in death by his brothers, Grady Davidson, George Davidson, Guy Davidson and Gary Davidson.

Mr. Davidson is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gloria Strickland Davidson of Gainesville; daughter and son in law, Julie Davidson Jones and Greg of Canton; son and daughter in law, Joe Davidson and Beverly of Acworth; grandchildren, Tyler Reynolds and Caitlin, Lindley Davis and Whit, Brittany Clayborn, Lyndsey Mumbower and Stacey, Jenna Petraska and Michael; seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.

Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA  30504 is in charge of arrangements.
