Mrs. Angela R. Borden, 49

Angela Hope Reynolds Borden

Born May 7, 1972 – Entered Heaven January 22, 2022

Angel was born in Tampa, Florida on a Sunday morning in May. Her place of birth was reflective of the ray of sunshine that she was. She was gregarious and gorgeous from her childhood. She often inserted herself in the conversations of the grown-ups who surrounded her. Anyone who knew her knew that there was no subject that was outside of her range of comment and confidence. In her recent years of life as a wife to Adam and mother of Abby & Addy, Angel often credited the character with which she raised her daughters to the biblical upbringing she received from her parents. Throughout the twists and turns of her life, her biblical raising remained a firm foundation.

Angel’s testimony was not unlike many other people who grew up in church. She could point to a time in her early teen years when she had walked an isle and professed a decision for Christ. As years went on it became clear to Angel that she had merely made a move based on expectations and what she felt was an obligation as a good church kid and child raised in a preacher’s home. The Holy Spirit began to deeply convict Angel of her lost condition as she went into adulthood, was married to Adam on December 16, 2000, and began to have children. She told her husband Adam, who was a Gospel music musician, “You are not a preacher, right? Because I didn’t marry a preacher, I married a musician.” Well, the Lord had other plans and in November of 2008 she by default became the wife of a Baptist preacher. That change of life intensified the conviction she felt privately over her lost condition. On the morning of November 11, 2012 at Middle Tennessee Baptist Church after hearing a message from Luke chapter 16 on the great gulf of separation of the saved and the lost, that the conviction of the Holy Spirit was more than she could bear. She pushed her husband out of the way and bolted to the altar where she had confessed the lie she had lived of a false profession. She cried out from the depths of her soul in repentance of sin and confession of Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord, giving her eternal soul and earthly life to Him. “All I want to do is serve the Lord for the rest of my life!” And, she did. She was truly a changed woman. After Adam asked Angel what she was feeling in days soon after Salvation she replied, “Joy & Excitement.”

In July 2014 Angel began a battle with cancer. The first diagnosis was breast cancer which stripped her of many physical aspects of her life, but not her fighter’s spirit. Chemo, massive surgeries, radiation, reconstruction, and years of follow up treatment followed. She was declared cancer free in 2019. Soon, a life of full-time ministry with her family brought more joy than she could imagine. On the morning of July 20, 2021, a grand mal seizure brought to light that cancer had not given up the battle just yet. A brain tumor was removed and treated with radiation immediately. In November 2021 tests revealed even more tumors had grown. After all treatment options were exhausted, in the Lord’s perfect time Angel succumbed to her relentless foe. But she never lost faith, she never gave up. She fought until the very last breath and then fell gently into the embrace of the Savior she loved to serve so much. Today, Angel is more alive than she has ever been. Those of us who are saved by the grace of Almighty God will see her again. If you are not saved, it would be her desire that you believed on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and trusted Him for eternal salvation.

We will never forget the Angel that the Lord let us love on this earth. See you soon, our Angel.

Our love and prayers to the family. Earth lost a jewel but Heaven gained a treasure. Psalm 116:12-15 KJV [12] What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me? [13] I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord. [14] I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people. [15] Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

Angel always had a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She was a blessing when she sang with her family, and it was so easy to see how close she was to her girls and husband. When I would sing with The Old Time Preachers, Angel was the first to encourage me and tell me I had been a blessing to her. She will be greatly missed. We love Adam and the girls and will forever have them on our prayer list. ❤️

1 Corinthians 15:51-57 KJV [51] Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, [52] In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. [53] For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. [54] So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. [55] O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? [56] The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. [57] But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. … We love y’all and are praying for you as you go through this loss. If there’s anything we can do please let us know.

Angel has been special to me since we first met many years ago. Then she met Adam & shortly afterwards I was asked to be her wedding planner. What a fun time we all had! I had a chance to get to know Adam better. What a sweet couple they were! The Lord was truly in putting these two together. We’ll all miss our Angel but one day we will see her again. Love you all!
