Mrs. Anna L.
It is with great sorrow that I have to announce the passing of my beautiful and loving wife, Anna L. Carter of Gainesville, GA at 6:52pm, July 1 (one day short of our 53rd. wedding anniversary on 7/2/1969).
Anna is now in Heaven and running on new legs. I know that there has to be a Human Resource office in Heaven and God already has Anna working on the files and handling the need of the other Angels. For those of you who were lucky enough to know Anna you know what a wonderful lady she was and what a big heart she had for serving others. She helped so many people at Chicopee in Oak Wood, GA where she was Human Resources Manager from 1976-1991. Johnson & Johnson moved her to Ethicon in Cornelia, GA where she was Human Resources Manager from 1991 until her retirement in 2009.
Anna was born in Jasper, AL and still has many relatives in that area. She was a loyal University of Alabama football fan. Anna and her husband Jerry were members of Riverbend Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA. from 2001 to 2017 where she loved the older members who were homebound. After her retirement from Ethicon, Anna would cook meals for several older ladies and deliver these meals quite often to these ladies’ homes. Anna was baptized with her husband Jerry at Riverbend in 2002. She was also a member of several bible study groups including “Spares and Pairs”. In 2017, Jerry and Anna joined Air Line Baptist Church also in Gainesville. Her physical ability to attend church at ALBC was cut short with the advancement of Parkinson.
Anna loved God and his son Jesus. She walked the walk and read her study bible to the point that she had to put tape on the cover to hold it together. She never lost her faith even when her disease took her body and mind. One of the Christian ladies that Anna looked up to and loved was Elizabeth Harrington from RBBC who went ahead of Anna to be with God at age 105.
Anna is preceded in death by her Father, DeWeese Owen, younger brother DeWeese Owen, Jr., of Jasper, AL. She is survived by her husband, Jerry W. Carter of Gainesville, GA, Adopted Brother and Sister - Jerry’s Nephew Ron and his wife Kathy Carter of Rogersville, TN. And, her loving little dog, Happy.
Anna had several good friends from church and work but especially Nancy Lou Allen, Barbara Harbert and Jena Wilson. Another lady that was special to Anna at RBBC was Jan Brown and her husband Richard.
Anna loved her caregivers Alma Simpson and Crystal Stiwinter who took such great care of her at home for almost a year. Also, all the great people from Pruitt Health Hospice Continuous Home Care. Cindy Balkstra RN Case Manager (a great nurse), Charlie Dover, CNA (a great person), Donna Hanley LMSW (who made sure Anna was getting the best care) and all the other nurses who came at night and on the weekend (especially Virginia, Jodi and Amy).
I want to thank all of our neighbors who prayed for us, bought us meals and were there for us for so many years. Also, members of Riverbend Church, Air Line Baptist Church (especially Pastor Mike Wellborn); and, Pastor Mike Dorough past Senior Pastor at RBBC, ALBC and now Senior Pastor at Transition Church in Gainesville who prayed over Anna after her passing, visited Anna several times.
Anna made my life wonderful and life will never be good as it was with her by my side. We met on May 30, 1969 and was married on July 2, 1969. She was such a shining light that will never go out in my heart. See you in Heaven soon, Sweetheart. Jerry

I just wanted to make a correction in my obituary for Anna. We met May 30 and were married July 2, 1969 (still pretty quick but not June 30). Love you baby, if you had been here to proofread your Obituary you would have corrected my error. Jerry
