Mrs. Darlene Karen Spath, 64

September 19, 2022

Mrs. Darlene Karen Spath, age 64 of Buford, passed away on Monday Morning, September 19, 2022 after a long courageous battle with cancer.  She was surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Flowery Branch.  Mr. George Lee, Mr. Rob Eberhardt and Miss Audrey Fuller will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Spath was born on March 7, 1958 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Samuel Chaudoin and Clara Burt Chaudoin. Darlene was raised in Cottondale, Alabama until she married Curt at the age of 23. Life led them to Houston & Austin, Texas, Elizabethton, Tennessee, and finally Buford, Georgia, where she resided for over 28 years.  She was a devoted, loving wife, mother and grandmother “Mimi”. While she will be remembered for being an avid gardener, talented artist, and for her sense of humor, her big heart, contagious laugh, and ability to make even a stranger feel loved, she will be most remembered for being a pillar of faith. She made her choice to serve God at age 16 in June of 1974. This faith carried her through countless experiences, including her 16 year battle with breast cancer and the great loss of her daughter, Heather, in 2005.
Mrs. Spath is survived by her husband of 41 years, Curt Spath, of Buford,  daughter, Jaime (Tim) Drew of Clarkesville, son, Cameron (Riley) Spath, of Smyrna, South Carolina, and her four very loved grandchildren, Ava Drew, Cayden Spath, Liam Drew, and Tinsley Spath, her  siblings, Debbie (Jorge) Torres, of Hoschton, Terry Chaudoin, of Cottondale, Alabama, and Tom (Tammy) Chaudoin, of Cottondale, Alabama, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA  30504 is in charge of arrangements.

Darlene was a Godly lady that as the obituary says, had a way of making everyone feel loved. She was a fighter in every way and I'm glad to have known her and for her & Curt's welcome into their home where the fellowship with God was abundant.

Darlene, you fought the battle against cancer with all that medicine had to offer. But you fought the battle to remain faithful to God with all the power of heaven. Thankful for your testimony of a life lived as a child of God. You can rest now in peace. To Curt, Jaime, and Cameron and families - the loss of Darlene leaves an empty place on earth. But your hearts can be filled with her love and joy.
