I always called him Garrett. He always called me Hooper. We worked across from each other at GM Doraville for several years, back in the 60's/70's. He put the finish coat of paint on the right side of the car. I put the same on the left side. We met in the middle of the deck lid as we finished then began on the next car. We had a myriad of laughs, and we got to know each other. Getting to know him, I learned I liked him. Eventually I realized I didn't just like him, I loved him. Maybe the most enjoyable man I ever knew. I know He made my shift easier, and maybe I did the same with his. He lived a difficult and burdensome life sometimes, not his doing, but his goodness always got the better of him. To his loved ones: I'm grievously sorry he has left. We are all diminished by his passing. I hope He left a legacy of good feeling to each of you as He does for me. He was one of the good ones. I'll think of him often, and my thoughts will be good. My yours be the same. With genuine love and respect. Ben Forrester
