Mr. Lester Gordon Wetherford, 84

Lester Gordon Wetherford, age 84, of Pendergrass, Georgia passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at his residence.

Services will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Memorial Park Funeral Home Braselton Chapel. The Reverends Rusty Newman and Tim Strickland will be officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville, Georgia following the service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.  at Memorial Park Funeral Home Braselton.


Mr. Wetherford was born on August 19, 1935 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Paul and Bell Wetherford.   He served in the United States Army. He is a retired mechanic with the City of Hoschton and a former maintenance worker for Gainesville Mills.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Vera Dean Wetherford; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Andy Gentry of Pendergrass; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Tony McNeal of Braselton, Georgia; brothers, Junior Wetherford of Gainesville, Henry Wetherford of Gainesville, Adolphus Wetherford of Braselton, Johnny Wetherford of Maysville; sisters, Grace Robinson of Gainesville, Vera Wood of Hoschton; grandchildren, Kayla Williams, Cassie Phillips, Erin Gentry; great-grandchildren, Harrison and Remmington Phillips, Kori and Payton Williams.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Walnut Fork Baptist Church Building Fund, 557 GA-60, Hoschton, Georgia 30548, (706) 654-3904.

I am very saddened by the loss of Gordon. He was a long time family friend to not just my dad but all of us. My heart goes out to the family in this time of sorrow. Please know you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
