Mr. Wayne Fauscett, 71

Wayne Fauscett passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022.  He was born on January 18, 1951, in Gainesville, GA and was the only child of Andrew Ansel and Mamie Velma (Buffington) Fauscett.

Wayne was the 1969 class president of East Hall High School and helped plan and attended every reunion.  After high school, he attended Gainesville College. He was a former member of the Georgia National Guard and trained in the Army Rangers boot camp in Fort Polk, LA.  He retired with much fan-fair from Georgia Power Company after 48 years of service as a Lineman, Trainer, and Health & Safety Coordinator.  Never one to be idle, he then worked for Raines Utility Safety Solutions of Griffin, GA, Sparks Energy of Danville, AL, and Thiele Kaolin Company of Sandersville, GA.

He loved to tell his stories of various storm duty experiences and he was called “silver tongued” for his ability to capture the attention of his entire classroom.  He enjoyed his work and his extended family of work friends.

He liked to tinker and create (MacGyver) solutions with his tools and machinery and was always willing to lend a hand, loan a tool, and give advice.

Wayne was a consummate fiancé, father, grandfather, nephew, cousin, and friend whose focus never strayed from the family he so deeply loved.  His joy was truly apparent when holiday gatherings had him surrounded by the family that loved him so.

Wayne is survived by his fiancé, Hannah Sanders; son Nathan Fauscett and wife, Ginny; daughters Kathy Fauscett, Ginger and Jason Gibbs; grandchildren Ansley Fauscett, Charlotte Fauscett, Jayden Gibbs, Grace Gibbs; and many aunts and cousins.

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Drive, Gainesville, GA 30504.  The Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2022 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. There will be a private graveside service at Dunagan Chapel United Methodist Church, 5540 Timber Ridge Rd, Gainesville, GA  30507.

Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA  30504 is in charge of arrangements.

I knew Wayne most of my career at Ga. Power. I was always pleased to be working with him on various storm recovery efforts, as I knew we'd get our part of the work done efficiently and safely. I learned a great deal about line work, and about living life in general, from him. My prayers go out to his family and his many, many friends. He will be sorely missed by all of us.

I had the great pleasure of working with Wayne at Georgia Power since 2014. In those short years I gained in him a great friend. I always enjoyed his stories and there is one memory that I will always take with me and that was the storm trip that we took to Savannah in 2016 where Wayne and I slept in our trucks all night instead of sleeping in the noisy trailers. Five o'clock came very early that next morning. I will miss him very much and my heart goes out to his family and friends.

Nathan, You are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. There will be times you will reflect on all the happy times shared with your Dad and we hope you will find comfort in those memories. Each time a bass boat comes up in the cove, we will be thinking of him and remembering what a good person he was and how much he loved life.

There are not enough kind words to describe Wayne. He mentored me but more importantly welcomed me to GPC Central Region as a friend. His friendship extended beyond his retirement from the company. I will forever appreciate him supporting me through the loss of my mother. Rest in Heaven

Dear Nathan, Kathy & Ginger, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. We all have so many memories of your dad. Always out in his work shop working on something with Champ following close behind. Your dad was one of those very special people who always had a kind word and a smile for everyone he met. Our lives are all spread out now, but what a great childhood we all had on Happy Valley Road! Know that the happy memories will peek through when you need them.
Shirley Bowe & Artie Rea 2022-08-23 12:52:58
Dear Hannah, we both know what you are going through. Its tough to lose the love of your life so suddenly. Wayne was so knowledgeable and willing to share it with others, and also a true GA Gentleman. He will be missed by all who knew him. God must need an excellent safety officer in heaven to have called him so soon. Whenever you need us, just call.
