Alan Russell McGahie

Alan Russell McGahie died peacefully in his home on Thursday, January 12, 2023  in Gainesville, Ga at the age of 61. 

Alan is survived by his wife of 40 years Donna McGahie; daughters Tanya Moffett-Squires, Beth McGahie, Stephanie McGahie, who all lived within 15 miles of their father; siblings; sister Jennifer Ayers of Watertown, Ct. and brother Paul McGahie of Goshen, Al., grandchildren; Christian Brooks, Caleb Brooks, Alora Schoettlin, Matthew Garrett, and Madison Brooks.  He is preceded in death by parents Althea and Harry McGahie. 

Alan was born on November 4, 1961 in Waterbury, Ct. to Althea and Harry McGahie. He graduated from Pomperaug High School in Southbury, CT. He served in the United States Air Force where he met his wife of 40 years named Donna Sands. Over the next several years, the couple welcomed 3 children into their home and Alan set about teaching them important life skills. His children remember him as a self-driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals and be efficient in life. Alan believed in hard work and supporting his family in all areas of life with patience and love. 

A celebration of life service is scheduled for 3:30 p.m on January 20, 2023 at Memorial Park Funeral Home at 989 Riverside Dr., Gainesville, Ga., 30501 with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Alan’s life.
