Julia “Ann” Taylor Malcom, 83, of Atlanta, GA, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the home of her daughter in Gainesville, GA. Ann was born on September 29, 1942, in Lebanon, TN, to the late James Watson Taylor and Varis Fay Martin.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.
Ann grew up in Decatur, GA, where she attended and cheered for Avondale High School. She graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Education degree. Ann worked for 25 years as a Federal Revenue Officer. Upon retiring, she started her own tax consulting business.
Ann married her high school sweetheart, Buford Thomas “Tommy” Jones, and they had three daughters. Later, she married James “Jimmy” Harry Malcom, and they were married for 40 years until his death in 2021. Jimmy also added a son to the family.
Ann was a people person and a social butterfly to the very end. She enjoyed sightseeing throughout the United States with “Papa” and taking long trips throughout Europe with her Mama. She loved gathering with her “High School Girls” for getaways and lunches. Ann enjoyed participating in Bible studies, attending social activities in her 55-plus community, and faithfully serving in the Assistance League. Panama City Beach is where she loved to walked for hours looking for shells and spending time with her family.
Her greatest treasures were her family. She was loving, kind, and an always involved mother and “Nana”. Her legacy lives on through her children: Julia Fay Black (Adam), Mary Leigh Biggers (Walter), Sally Ann Berto (Robert), and Steven James Malcom (Becky); along with her eight grandchildren: Briar L. Roberson (Nicholas), Bailey A. Ray (Chase), Gloria A. Biggers, Carly E. Griffin (Robert), Berri M. Berto, Thomas M. Black (Alexis), Blake R. Berto, and Madeline G. Malcom; and five great-grandchildren: Hudson J. Roberson (7) Eden J. Roberson (5), Brooks M. Ray (4), Oakleigh J. Roberson (2), and Bishop D. Ray (1).
