Barbara Ann (Miller) Shaneyfelt

Mrs. Barbara Ann (Miller) Shaneyfelt, age 89, of Gainesville, GA passed away on April 12, 2026, after battling heart failure for several years.

Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Lanier Village Estates Chapel.

Barbara Shaneyfelt was born in Durant, Oklahoma on September 25, 1936. She was the youngest of five children and predeceased by her parents, William and Annie Miller, two sisters Pauline Snider (Orville), Wilma Emersion (Dolan), her brothers James Miller (Ester) and Hal Benton Miller. Barbara is survived by her husband Stanley Shaneyfelt, daughter Deborah Swanson (Randy) and son Patrick Dobbins (Cathy). She also leaves two stepdaughters Cheryl Caldwell (Steve) and Karon Post. Barbara leaves four grandchildren, John Swanson (Amanda), Eric Swanson, Sean Dobbins, Tyler Dobbins and two stepchildren, and 5 step great-grandchildren as well as several nephews and nieces.

Barbara was a Christian and attended Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA. She was a retired teacher from the DOD school system and the state of Florida. She taught students for 32 years and moved with her military husband to seven different states as well as Europe. Her last teaching assignment was in Ft. Walson Beach, FL where she taught the severely emotionally challenged and was awarded two Teach of the Year awards. She loved her students and enjoyed encouraging and teaching children with special needs. She enjoyed many hobbies, bible study, painting, playing bridge, reading, exercising and cooking. She enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed traveling in Europe. She prayed for her grandchildren and great grandchildren that they would all make a decision to serve the Lord. A Celebration of life will be announced at a future date.
