Barbara Rogers Wood

Mrs. Barbara Rogers Wood, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness. She was born to the late Frank Melvin Rogers and Georgia Lorene Cantrell in Athens, Georgia on April 6, 1941.

Barbara graduated from the 1st Nursing class of Brenau University in 1963 and worked at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Labor and Delivery for 13 years. She went to work for Dr. Bill Manus in 1976 and worked with him for 48 years. She was dedicated to the nursing profession and loved serving others. Barbara was a faithful member of New Holland Baptist Church and loved spending time with the seniors group.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 12:00 PM in the Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Reverend Rick Taylor and Reverend Brian Stephens will be officiating the service. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the Funeral Home on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Mrs. Wood is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Marvin Wood, Jr.

She is survived by her children, Michael Pugh, Garry Wood, Sally (Randy) Smith; grandchildren, Dylan Roberts, Andrew Smith, Ty (Madison) Smith, Katie (Trey) Pinson, Lauren (Kevin) Woody, Lindsey (Jarvis) Davenport; great-grandchildren, Beau, Annie Lynn, Hampton, Hazel, Eva, Evan; a number of nieces and nephews; brothers, Jim Rogers and Jerry Cantrell; and special friend, Jerry Pless.
