Barry Conner Obituary

Barry Gene Conner, 78, entered into the presence of his Savior on May 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and the faith that guided every part of his life. Born on July 1, 1947 in Hall County, Barry lived a life marked not by recognition or applause, but by quiet humility, steadfast leadership, deep compassion, and an unwavering devotion to God and people.

Barry is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Bridget Conner; his son, Brandon Conner; his daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Blake Hembree; and his cherished grandchildren, Conner and Clara Hembree. He is also survived by his brothers, Van Conner and Dell and Kayron Conner and a host of other loving relatives.

Barry dedicated much of his life to building not only homes, but people. Through America’s Home Place, where more than 40,000 homes were built under his leadership and vision, Barry saw every project as more than construction — he saw opportunities to serve families, encourage employees, and invest in others. His greatest passion was developing leaders and teaching people how to lead with humility, integrity, and a servant’s heart.

No matter where he traveled or whom he met, he genuinely loved to hear people’s stories - their dreams, their struggles, and their hearts. He loved experiencing different cultures alongside his family and carried a deep compassion for those who were hurting or overlooked. His generosity was quiet and constant, often unseen by others, because he never desired recognition for himself.

Above all else, Barry’s life reflected his faith. He walked closely with God and gave Him the glory for every blessing, every success, and every opportunity. He pointed others toward faith, service, kindness, and purpose.

His legacy lives on not only in the homes that were built, but in the countless lives he strengthened, encouraged, mentored. He will be remembered as a faithful husband, devoted father and granddad, respected leader, generous friend, and humble servant of God.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
