Barry Joe Moore

Barry Joe Moore passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, in the Northeast Georgia Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born on December 8, 1947 in Jackson Co. GA and graduated from Commerce High School.

In 1969 he was drafted into the United States Army and the Vietnam War. He served his country proudly. He came home in early 1970. He was so happy to see and be with his family again. He said once his feet touched the Georgia soil he said he would never fly again, and he didn't.

He met the person he would marry when he returned to Georgia and married his wife Mary Jean Moore on March 21, 1970. Barry was loved by all who knew him and he returned the love.

Barry worked different places but his last place of employment was the City of Gainesville Wastewater Plant. All the people there loved Barry and Barry loved his work family. He retired in 2008.

Barry was always happy and upbeat and liked reunions and other events because he could help cook and eat at the same time. He loved gatherings of any kind. He said he would love to be at the gathering when he was passed from this earth to his heavenly home. I know he is at peace now. I don't know how many lives he touched but they all remember him and how he affected their lives, and that says a lot.

Barry was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Scott Watters; his father, Joe B. Moore, and his brother Garry Scott Moore.

Barry is survived by his wife Mary Jean Moore. They had 56 wonderful years together. He is also survived by two special aunts: Johnnie Scott Sanders and Judy Scott Middlebrooks

A funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Reverend Stanley Mize will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
