Betty Jean Kendall, age 94, of Gainesville, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 2, 2026.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel and also on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 1 until the funeral hour. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, June 5, 2026, at the funeral home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Steve Baker will officiate.
Born and raised in Gainesville, Georgia, Betty Jean spent her entire life in the community she loved. She was a hardworking woman who retired from Wrigley’s after many years of dedicated service. Betty Jean was a loving mother who dearly loved her children and treasured every family gathering. She shared a close bond with her siblings and stayed connected with them throughout her life.
Betty Jean was a faithful member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Kendall; parents, Manley Thurmond and Jessie (Burnett) Thurmond; brother, Heyward Thurmond; and sister, Martha Martin.
She is survived by her children, DeWayne Loggins of Gainesville; Sharon Holtzclaw of Gainesville; Danny Loggins (Lisa) of Flowery Branch; and Sheila Carpenter (Jimmy) of Cumming; grandchildren, Kimberly Carey, Kaison Loggins, Kaitlin Dills, Chad Loggins, Courtney Roberson, Kayla Carpenter, Brooke Carpenter, and Derick Holtzclaw; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Freeman of Cleveland; Doris Parks of Gainesville and Glenda Pass of Gainesville; brother, Randall Thurmond (Wanda) of Gainesville.
