Bobby Gidden Towson

Mr. Bobby Gidden Towson, age 82, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023 in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. David Simpson will officiate. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Bobby was born on January 16, 1941in Fitzgerald, GA to the late Ira and Ethel Towson. He was the ninth child of ten children. He graduated from Savannah High in 1959. Bobby went to Armstrong College, where he got his degree and in 1961 joined the Air Force, where he served until 1968. Bobby was a member of Lanier Christian Church. 

Bobby worked in chemical sales for 40 years. He retired from Celanese. Bobby and Janice lived in Gainesville, GA for the last 26 years.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Janice Shumans Towson, who he married in July 1962. They had 2 sons; Bobby G. Towson, Jr. and Timothy B. Towson; two grandchildren, Sara Towson and Joshua Towson; two great grandchildren, Baker Jeffries, Gracelynn Jeffries; one surviving sister, Betty Williamson of Savannah and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
