Brenda Sue Simmons Cook, 82, of Gainesville, GA, passed away on Monday October 13, 2025 after a sudden illness.
Brenda was born on March 20, 1943, the daughter of the late JC and Utah Simmons. Along with her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her brother Terry Simmons, sister Barbara Simmons Gooch, and daughter in law Lori Elkins Cook.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Anthony Lee Cook, her son Bobby Cook, Daughter and son law Nancy and Timmy Cagle, daughter and son in law Misty and Chris Bales. Her grandchildren who she adored and lived for: Chris and Rush Davenport, Cody and Cason Cagle, and Michael and Claudia Combs. She is also survived by her sisters, Joyce Strickland and Lynn Grindle, her brother and sister-in-law Tony and Joan Simmons and her sister-in-law Diane Simmons Gravitt. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. As well as her “adopted” granddaughter Amanda Norris.
Brenda was a talented painter, baker and cake decorator. She was known for making the best red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing, any cake you can imagine, apple and German chocolate to name a few favorites. She loved to cook for family and friends and always made everyone feel welcome in her home. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her grandchildren dearly and anyone she met would know all about her grand babies. She will be greatly missed by many!
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 1:00pm, with a memorial service to follow at 2:00pm, at Memorial Park Funeral Home-Main Campus.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Brenda name.
