Brian Frederick Young, 66, of Gainesville, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, was greeted into the loving arms of Jesus on May 7th, 2026 after a long illness.
Brian was born on April 4th, 1960 in Miami, FL to parents Wilfred Lloyd Young and Clara Kay Young, the middle son of three boys. As the son of a mechanic and growing up in sunny Florida, he had a lifelong love of classic cars, golf, and fishing. He had no shortage of hobbies.
After graduation from Palmetto High School in 1978, he attended Miami Dade Community College for 2 years before taking the leap and moving to Rome, GA to attend Berry College. He graduated from Berry in 1982 with a degree in Agribusiness.
Brian welcomed his first child, Ashley, in 1986.
Having developed an appreciation for the seasons that Georgia had to offer, Brian eventually settled down in Gainesville, GA, where he later obtained his insurance license and began his career as an Allstate agent. It was while he was working at his Allstate booth in the local mall that he first set eyes on the love of his life, Lisa Renee Young (Waldrip). After just three short months of dating, they were engaged and later married on March 10th, 1990.
Together they welcomed a daughter, Hannah, in 1992 and son, Hunter, in 1995. Brian raised his family honoring his roots, taking annual vacations to Florida to enjoy the sun, seafood and deep-sea fishing, but also embraced the north Georgia lifestyle taking up hunting, trout fishing, and even gardening later in life. In 2001, he combined his interests in insurance and agribusiness as he began working for Penn Millers Insurance, now Chubb Agribusiness, which he later retired from in 2021 as Assistant Vice President of Loss Control.
In retirement, he made the best use of his time enjoying his family and spending endless hours pursuing his many hobbies, even taking up a part time job with the grounds crew at Chattahoochee Golf Club. Always an early bird, his early mornings on the golf course or in his deer stand is where he spent his quiet time and prayer with God. In 2025, he became a Grandpa to his little “butter bean,” Ginna. He loved his family dearly, had many cherished friends, and lived life without regret. His outgoing personality and charm were larger than life itself. Brian will be incredibly missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him.
Brian is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Lisa Renee Young, mother Clara Kay Young of Enigma, GA, daughter Ashley Kayanna Kowalski (Rich) of Whitestown, IN, daughter Hannah Renee Christopher (Daniel) of Gainesville, son Hunter Brian Young (Beth Anne) of Alpharetta, granddaughter Virginia Clara Christopher, brother Bruce Lloyd Young (Denise) of Tampa, FL, brother Craig Robert Young (Michelle) of Auburn, AL, sister-in-law Gina Michelle Cook (Mike) of Roswell, and many nieces and nephews.
