Mrs. Candace L. Stepka, age 80 of Gainesville, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 10, 2026 at All Saints Catholic Church. The family received friends from to 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stepka was born August 5, 1945 to the late Glen Lawson & Evelyn Ingle Lawson in Atlanta, Georgia. She retired after a career in ophthalmology with the research center at Emory University.

She is survived by her husband, James Stepka; son, James “Andy” Stepka; daughter-in-law, Natalie Stepka; grandchildren, Nickolas Stepka; and step-grandchildren, Lucy Mishoe & Blake Mishoe. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Russell Lawson, Gordon Lawson, Mickey Lawson, & Douglas Lawson.
