Christine Janelle (Nigro) Copper

Christine Janelle Copper (née Nigro), known as “Cookie” or “Ma” to those who loved her, passed away peacefully in her home in Hoschton, GA, at the age of 74, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, surrounded by loving family. 

Chris is survived by her husband of 30 years, Marc; daughter, Gina (Christophe) Masson; stepdaughter, Lori (Mark) Fuenzalida; grandchildren, Joseph, Emilie, Lea, and Levi; brother, Mike (Judith) Nigro; niece, Sarah (Neil) Bodo; nephew, Phil (Eva) Nigro; and many friends and cousins.

Born to the late Joseph & Agnes Nigro in Elmhurst, IL, Chris was raised in neighboring Villa Park. She was an employee of Villa Park Trust and Savings Bank, later, the Village of Villa Park Public Works Department, and finally, the Wheaton Sanitary District, as their Administrative Services Director.

Moving from the Chicago area to Georgia upon retirement, Chris became an active member of the Village of Deaton Creek community. Here she took up traveling with friends, quilting, and square dancing, sharing her talents with those around her. Always known as a kind and caring person, Chris was a devoted grandmother, taking every opportunity to support her grandchildren, Joseph, Mimi, Lea, and Levi.

Memorial services on Saturday, September 13th at Memorial Park South Funeral Home, 4121 Falcon Pkwy, Flowery Branch, GA 30542, with visitation at 11 am, followed by a service at 12 noon. Please send online condolences to www.memorialparkfuneralhomes.com.
