Clyde Dewey Wilson of Lula, Georgia, passed away on April 2, 2026. Born in Lula, Georgia, Clyde spent his life rooted in the place he loved most, surrounded by family, friends, and the simple joys that meant so much to him.
Clyde was a man who truly never met a stranger. Known for his storytelling and easygoing nature, he had a way of making everyone feel welcome and at home. Whether he was sharing a story, lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying good company, Clyde left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He found great happiness in horse riding and raising donkeys, but he had a deep love for animals of all kinds. Clyde also enjoyed life on the road being a long-haul trucker, embracing the freedom and adventure it brought. When he wasn’t working or outdoors, he could often be found watching the Grand Ole Opry or listening to his favorite gospel and country artists, including Guy Penrod, Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton, Joey and Rory Feek, and the Gaither Vocal Band.
Above all, Clyde loved his family. Spending time with his large and close-knit family was what brought him the greatest joy, and he treasured every moment shared with them.
He is survived by his wife Linda Wilson, children David Wilson (Diane), Tanya Woodard (Chuck), Tonya Abernathy (Scott), Laura Phillips, Kayla Welch (Chad), Josh Russom (Crystal), Jr. Grizzle, sister Vickie Craven and 24 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren and all who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother Willie Ruth Abernathy Wilson, Father George Wylie Wilson, brother Coy Clinton Wilson, his sisters, Carolyn Williams, Betty Ruth Miller, Joy Fay Loden and daughters Janet Grizzle and Annette Wilson.
Clyde will be remembered for his kind heart, his stories, his love of life, and the way he made everyone feel like a friend. His legacy of warmth, laughter, and love will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
