Daniel Eugene Cornell

Mr. Daniel Eugene Cornell, 84, of Gainesville, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023 following an extended illness.

No services are scheduled at this time.

Born on April 30, 1938 in White County, GA, he was the son of the late William Henry and Martha Ann Allison Cornell. He was retired from AT&T where he was an engineer. Mr. Cornell was a proud Veteran who served his country in the United States Army. He was of the Methodist faith.

After retiring from AT&T, Dan became very active in several charitable organizations, including the VFW, Golden K and Meals on Wheels of Hartwell, GA. Prior to his becoming disabled, he was always first to volunteer to help a neighbor in need.

Dan was a great handyman who could repair or build just about anything around the house. He loved sharing his knowledge and experience with Chad after he became a homeowner. Dan will be greatly missed.

Mr. Cornell is survived by his wife, Sandra H. Cornell of Gainesville; daughter, Vandy McArthy (Scott) of St. Simon, GA; son, Chad Cornell (Kim); granddaughters, Hannah McArthy, Sarah Bouchell; sister, Evelyn Binsz (Darald) of Winterville; brother, Glenn Cornell (Jena) of Jefferson and a number of other loving relatives.
