Dorothy Helen (Hamer) Peppel

Mrs. Dorothy Helen (Hamer) Peppel, age 102, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023.

Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 am Friday, December 1, 2023 at Gainesville First United Methodist Church.

Dottie was born January 14, 1921 in Jersey City, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late William A. Hamer and Sophie (Selchau) Hamer. She was preceded in death by her son, John Peppel and her husband of 60 years, Theodore Frank Peppel.

Mrs. Peppel is survived by her daughter, Susan Peppel; granddaughter, Nicole and Robert Proctor, great-grandson, John Michael Peppel; daughter-in-law, Stella Steffen and her husband Michael.

Dottie was a great lover of the outdoors. She and her husband Ted enjoyed many years together camping, hiking, canoeing and backpacking. Her love of music was with her, her entire life. Over the years she belonged to church choirs, choral groups and Sweet Adelines. She was also very involved in the Girl Scouts and the Red Cross in many capacities. She’ll be remembered as a true force of nature.
