Mr. Elbert Daniel "E.D." Jamison, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, surrounded by his most cherished loved ones at his bedside. After several months of declining health, he faced kidney disease with courage and dignity.
Born in Norton, North Carolina, E.D. was the son of the late Glen and Rose Jamison. He spent most of his life in Hall County, where he built not only roads, but a legacy of hard work and dedication. He retired from Gwinnett County Government, serving as a Road Maintenance Supervisor. He often spoke with pride of his early years in road construction, helping build Interstate 85, Interstate 985, and sections of Satellite Boulevard in Gwinnett County.
E.D. was a devoted member and Deacon of Mountain Creek Baptist Church. Until his health declined, he could be found at church whenever the doors were open, faithfully greeting everyone at the front door each Sunday morning. He had a deep love for Southern Gospel music, and his family fondly recalls his extensive collection of Bill Gaither videos. Above all, E.D. loved the Lord and lived out his faith daily through kindness, humility, and service.
Family was at the heart of E.D.'s life. He cherished time spent together, whether helping prepare meals for gatherings or simply sitting and listening to the stories of those he loved. His heartfelt and humble prayers before each meal will be deeply missed but never forgotten. With his passing, the family has truly lost their patriarch.
E.D. was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Shirley Jamison; his parents; his brothers, David and Tim Jamison; his sisters, Kareen McIntyre and Glenda Cheesebro; and his grandson, Steven Ford III.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Jamison; his three daughters, whom he loved immensely: Linda (Jeff) Strickland, Becky (Keith) Maxwell, and Tonya Keith; his grandchildren, Notchea (Dave) Tyre, Jennifer (Michael) Larose, Michael (Sissy) Blocker, Mindy (Jeremy) Blocker, and Donavon Harris; six great-grandchildren; his brothers, Roy and Jack Jamison; and his beloved cat, Lil Buddy (affectionately known as "Baby").
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Reverend Danny Newbern and Reverend Donnie Jarrard will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Drive, Gainesville, Georgia 30504 is in charge of the arrangements.
