Edna Rosalbia Payne, age 90 of Gainesville, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2026.
Born September 26, 1935, in Greeneville, Tennessee, Edna was the daughter of Omer Lee Gammon and Bertie Duncan Gammon. Edna was a successful business owner of 4 Kentucky Fried Chicken Franchise stores and a close, personal friend of Colonel Sanders himself, as the Colonel & wife, Claudia, would often stay at her home when in the area.
After selling the KFC business, she developed a successful career in Real Estate in both Georgia and later South Florida. Upon retirement, she returned to Georgia, where she continued to brighten everyone’s day with fabulous meals and lively, interesting conversations.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte Blankenship, and nephew, Chris Key.
Survivors include her children, Roger L. Brown, Danny (Carolyn) Brown, and Jacque DeLisser; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members, including special niece, Linda (Lonnie) Key.
As per her wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with interment at the family plot in Tennessee.
