Egbert Johannes Thalen

Mr. Egbert “Bert” Johannes Thalen, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia. He was born to the late Ed Thalen and Josephina Ritzen on February 15, 1953 in Heerlen, Holland.

Bert graduated from Gainesville High School in 1971 and was a graduate of Gainesville Junior College. He retired from SKF Bearings as a machinist. He was a member of Northlake Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Northlake Baptist Church. Reverend Danny Jones and Reverend Corey Olivier will officiate the service. The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the church.

Mr. Thalen is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Davidson Thalen of Gainesville; step-sisters, Pat Johnson of Carrollton, Pam Yates of Carrollton; cousins and their children, Diane and Jack Sedwick, Madison and Nicole of Gainesville; sister-in-law, Diane Howard of Murrayville; brother-in-law, Dan Davidson of Gainesville; niece and nephew and their children, Betsy and Adam Palmer, Haldey and Piper of Dawsonville; niece and nephew and their children, Tyler and Kayla Howard, Hank and Walter of Cleveland, and many friends.
