Ethel Marie Mauldin Obituary

Mrs. Ethel Marie Mauldin, age 86, of Gainesville, GA passed away on March 14th 2023.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, March 17, 2023 at 11am in the Chapel of Memorial Park main campus with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Joey Yeary will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Thursday March 16th, 6-8 pm.

Mom was born on January 11, 1937 in Franklin, NC to the late Larie Williams and late Mary Jane Martin Williams. She was retired from Civil Service and the USDA. Mom was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Mauldin; sister Blanch Mooney; brother Carl Williams; and first husband Carol E. Hill.  She is survived by her 3 sons and their spouses, Butch Hill (Jackie) of Colorado Springs, CO; Jimmy Hill (Terri) of Savannah, GA: and Jerry Hill (Sherry) of Gainesville, GA.  She was the proud grandmother to Jessica Hill Immel (Kim) of Colorado Springs; Amanda Hill and Matthew Hill  (Ashley) of Savannah; and Drew Hill; Robby Hill (Megan) and Clark Hill of Gainesville; and great-grandchildren John Immel and Avery Hill.  She is also survived by sisters, Linda Copeland (Gordon); Margaret Harkins (Ronnie); brother Michael Williams (Mary) and many nieces and nephews.

After retiring, mom looked for any opportunity to help her friends and family with anything they needed, especially in the food department. Mom loved to cook. Many cakes, pies, cookies and meals came out of her kitchen for lots of folks. Mom used her talents in her kitchen to show her love and concern for others as well as helping them gain a pound or two whether they needed it or not!

She was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church. She loved her church. Her friends there were a blessing to her the last years of her life. She talked often and fondly of the love she felt from the membership, and especially from her best friend Mary Roberts. We thank those folks at her church for the love and support and all the prayers that were poured out for our mother. We also want to thank a very special angel that was given to mom and our family, Gladys Teye. As mom’s caregiver, Gladys made it possible for our family to honor mom’s wish to be at home and cared for during the last months of her life. We will miss our mom, although we are confident that we will be together again with her at the reunion promised to us by our Heavenly Father.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice benefitting children.   St. Jude Children’s Hospital was mom’s favorite.
