Evelyn M. Green Bigus, 96, passed away peacefully in Gainesville, Georgia on August 14, 2025.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 30, 1929, to the late John and Eleanor Green and was a respected registered nurse for 40 years and a long-time resident of Oak Lawn, Illinois. Evelyn was the beloved wife of the late James C. Bigus and loving mother to Patricia (John) Pace and Jack (Lori) Bigus. She was cherished by her grandchildren, Richard, James (Lindsay), Vicki (Mary) and Jacqueline, and adored by her great-grandchildren, Parker, Connor, and Lincoln.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother Daniel (Ann) Green, sister-in-law Adele (Walter) Cholewa, and brother-in-law Walter (Theresa) Bigus. She was loved by many and affectionately known as “Sis” to her nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Evelyn was a long-time parishioner of St. Linus Catholic Church in Oak Lawn, Illinois and she enjoyed her time with the ladies at the Friendship Club meetings.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Illinois.
