Mr. Floyd Bennett Wilson, age 95, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026, in Gainesville, Georgia. He was born to the late Herman and Gladys Wilson on October 10, 1930, in Winder, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Addie Wilson, who was the love of his life for 74 years; daughter Teri Wilson (Calvin) of Gainesville, son Michael Wilson of Gainesville; brother, Harry Wilson (Judy) of Gainesville; sister-in-law, Vicki Wilson of Commerce; grandchildren, Lindsay Brison (Bo), Samantha Wilson, and Logan Wilson; and four great-grandchildren, Bennett, Emma Kate, Liza, and Maggie.
Mr. Wilson entered the Air Force in 1951 and served honorably until 1955. During his time in service, he was stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he worked as an instructor at the Supply and Administrative School. Following his military service, he attended the University of Georgia prior to beginning a long and successful career with Paris-Dunlap Hardware. His sales territory eventually expanded across North Georgia and Southeastern Tennessee. His dedication led to his promotion to Vice President of Sales, and he achieved the distinction of being a top salesperson for 14 years. After many years of hard work and achievement, he retired from House-Hasson Hardware, leaving behind a legacy of strong relationships and an outstanding reputation.
A man of deep faith, Mr. Wilson was a devoted member of Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church for more than 60 years, including 36 years of faithful service as a deacon. In 1983, he became a member of the Gideons Association, through which he spoke in churches throughout North Georgia. He found great joy in distributing Gideon Bibles in schools and churches within his community. He developed close friendships with many of his fellow Gideons, including his dear friend Broadus Duncan, with whom he served for over 40 years.
In his free time, Mr. Wilson especially cherished attending the activities of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When he wasn’t supporting them, he could often be found working in his garden or taking pride in maintaining his beautifully kept yard.
A funeral service will be held at Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at 3:30 pm. Reverend Darryl Womack will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
