Gary Parks Roper was born September 11, 1945 and entered into eternal rest Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Gary is the son of the late Allen and Evelyn Roper of Oakwood Georgia. He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Barbara Higgins Roper. Other survivors include brothers Marlon Roper, James Roper and Jerry Roper (Janis), sisters, Judy Lee (Leo) and Janice Brown (Bobby), a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Gary was a hard worker. For many years he owned and operated a hen farm near Dahlonega. After retirement, until the present time, he worked on a large farm outside of Dahlonega. He took great pride in the work he did there.
Gary loved the Lord and the church. He faithfully attended the Mountain View Baptist Church of Dahlonega. As his family, we will remember Gary for many things, his generosity, kindness and humility but most of all the assurance of his salvation and his willingness to share it with others.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 1pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be Sunday, February 22, 2026 at 2pm in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Bobby Brown officiating.
The family would like to thank Janice and Lennon Martin and Victoria Gilreath for their help in caring for Gary.
