Obituary for Gertrude “Trudy” (Miller) Mackes
Gertrude “Trudy” (Miller) Mackes, born on May 15, 1943, in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, passed away after a life marked by compassion, faith, and quiet strength. She was the daughter of the late Dwight I. and Helen (Kutcher) Miller. She graduated from Emmaus High School in 1961. She made Georgia her home in 1992.
Trudy built an accomplished career with Avon, where she worked for 24 years before retiring in 2004.
A devoted member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Trudy lived her faith through service. She led Grief Share and Stephen Ministry. Over the years, she volunteered as a Brownie Leader, served with the Junior Aides of Allentown Hospital, and most recently shared her time with the Braselton Library.
Trudy found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. She loved reading, exploring new places on cruises, and spending cherished family vacations in the Outer Banks and Myrtle Beach—places filled with laughter, memories, and the people she loved most.
She is survived by her husband, Arlan, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage; her children Richard, Debra (Bruce), Michele (Jeff), Lynn, and Chad (Julianna); eleven grandchildren; and five great‑grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Duane (Helen), Robert (Judy), Marcella (Mike), and Eileen (Kris).
She was preceded in death by her daughter Denise and her brother Richard.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Pete Coppola officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
