Helen (Free) Fowler

Helen Free Fowler, 90, of Gainesville passed away at home, with family at her side, of an extended illness on April 19, 2026.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 23 at 2:00 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Pastor Pierce Ashmore, Keith Crowe will officiate. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday April 22 from 5-9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Fowler was born on February 8, 1936 in Gainesville to the late James Ransom and Lottie Dyer Free. She was retired from Roses Department Store and she was a member of New Holland Congregational Holiness Church. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Grady Fowler, parents Ransome & Lottie Free, sister Phyllis Millwood, brothers Porky, Rudy, Johnny and Michael Free.

Mrs. Fowler is survived by her daughter Cathy Fowler, daughters and sons-in-laws, Donna & Jeff Thompson; Renae & Ron Powell; sister and brother-in-law Jan & Glen Crowe. Grandchildren, Wendy & Josh Merry; Candace Merry; Jeff & April Holden; Mandy & Phil Lowther; Jody Murphy; Chris &Tiffany Powell; Darin & Kimberly Powell; Jake & Heather Powell. Great-Grandchildren; Delaney, Alex, Jocelyn, Jasmine, AJ, Timothy, Collin, Madison, Casey, Cooper, Colby, Kali, Riley, Mckenzie, Lila Kate, Kayla, Ethan, Aolani and 9 Great Great-Grandchildren. Numerous nieces & nephews; loving cousin Carolyn Marlow and loving pet Joey.
