J.D. Cleveland, 81, of Temple, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026. Born March 29, 1945, in Hoschton, Georgia, J.D. lived a life defined by service, creativity, hard work, and devotion to his family. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era, where he was stationed in Korea and worked as a mechanic.
On June 17, 1968, J.D. married the love of his life, Carolyn Cleveland. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and enduring love. Carolyn preceded him in death, and he carried her memory with him always.
J.D. was a talented artist who enjoyed drawing and creating unique metal sculptures. He found joy in working with his hands, expressing his creativity, and sharing his talents with those around him. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and creating lasting memories with those he loved most.
He is survived by his three daughters, Kathy Adams, Tammy Doster (Greg), and Lynn Cherkas (Scott); six granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy in his life. J.D. was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Cleveland; his parents, Leona and Eugene Cleveland; and his siblings, Vestor Haley, Lamar Cleveland, and Nelson Cleveland.
J.D. will be remembered for his quiet strength, artistic spirit, dedication to his family, and the kindness he showed others throughout his life. His legacy lives on in the family he loved and the many lives he touched.
Funeral services will be held on June 11, 2026, at Memorial Park South Funeral Home, 4121 Falcon Parkway, Flowery Branch, GA 30542. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate J.D.'s legacy. Visitation is 12 pm to 2 pm followed by the funeral at 2pm. Burial following in cemetery. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
