JD Elliott, age 86, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on June 25, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Born on January 31, 1940, in the Owltown community of Union County, Georgia, JD was the son of the late Kiser Elliott and Carrie Pearl Towe Elliott. He was raised in Suches, where he developed the values of hard work, humility, perseverance, and a deep appreciation for family that remained with him throughout his life.
JD shared 65 years of marriage with the love of his life, Patricia Ann Gibson Elliott. Married in 1961, they built a home centered on faith, family, and unconditional love while raising seven children. Nothing brought him greater pride than watching his family grow to include sixteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
In 1979, JD founded Elliott Transport, a family-operated trucking company that served Gainesville's poultry industry for more than four decades. Customers knew that when others could not make a delivery happen, JD would find a way. His dependability, integrity, and commitment to serving his customers earned the respect of those he served throughout Northeast Georgia and the Southeast. Even years after his retirement, many continued to share stories of the times JD stepped in when no one else could.
Providing for his family, honoring his commitments, and lending a hand whenever it was needed were the principles that guided JD throughout his life. Those who knew JD best will remember his quiet strength, unwavering devotion to his family, and the example he set each day.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Ann Elliott; his children, Donna Rich, Jeffery (Tammy) Elliott, Michael (Linda) Elliott, Tracy (Patricia Loyola-Elliott) Elliott, Terry (Tabitha) Elliott, Julie (John) Miller, and Jonathan (Karen) Elliott; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; his brother, Charles Elliott; special family member Irene Van Deynse; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
JD was preceded in death by his parents, Kiser Elliott and Carrie Pearl Towe Elliott; his brothers, Anthony Elliott, Glover Elliott, Glenn Elliott, James Elliott, and granddaughter Lauren Grace Miller.
The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to Hospice of NGMC, as well as family members and friends who offered such compassionate care, support, and kindness during JD's final days.
JD's legacy lives on in the family he loved, the friendships he built, and the countless people whose lives were made better simply because they knew they could count on him.
