James Carlton

James was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas on February 22, 1953 to Jack and Mary Ellen Carlton. He moved to many states in his youth including Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina, and Tennessee before landing in Georgia where he lived most of his life in Eatonton.  He worked as a lineman for Georgia Power from 1973 to 2003 and was part of the disaster recovery crew that helped restore southern Florida in the wake of Hurricane Andrew.  

He was a charismatic man that had no trouble getting a chuckle out of just about anybody.

Aside from spending time with his two sons, Jody and Kenny, he loved hunting and fishing - and was really good at both.  The animal kingdom knew his name well, but could not escape his crosshairs or avert his fish bait.  He also played tennis, and ping pong with the family - he was very good at these activities as well.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his son, Kenny. He is survived by his son Jody (Ashley). 

A celebration of life will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on February 28, 2026 at 1329 Burnam Wood Drive, Gainesville, Ga 30501.
