James Russell Gee, age 68, passed away on April 30, 2026. Born on September 19, 1957, Russ lived a life marked by quiet strength, dedication, and a deep appreciation for both family and country.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Russ carried a strong sense of duty and service throughout his life. He was also a devoted Freemason, attaining the 32° in the Scottish Rite, a Yaarab Shriner and was an active member of the York Rite as well as many other Masonic appendant bodies. His commitment to the principles of Freemasonry reflected his character and the values he held dear.
Russ spent many years working as an over-the-road truck driver, a profession that allowed him to travel extensively and see much of the United States. He found pride and purpose in his work, and these travels became a major part of his life’s journey.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Ray and Linda Fowler Gee; his brother, Timothy Gee; and his grandmother, Gladys Gilmer Phillips.
He is survived by his son, Jason Gee, and his son’s mother, Barbara Cheeley; his granddaughters, Alyssa Gray and Alaina Holland; his grandson, Grayson Henson; his uncle, Harrison Elrod and his wife, Margaret; his aunt, Jeanene Witherow; his nieces, Carly Ray Stroud and Jada Boone; as well as many beloved cousins, extended family members, innumerable Masonic brothers, and friends who will remember him fondly.
Russ will be remembered for his steady presence and the lasting impression he made on those fortunate enough to know him.
A memorial service will be held on May 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Gainesville Masonic Lodge, 621 Lakeshore Drive, Gainesville, GA 30501.
“His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
— Matthew 25:21, 23
