James Lawrence Obituary

Mr. James Solomon Lawrence, known as “Scuzzman,” age 84, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, April 17, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

A memorial service will be held May 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Church of the Nazarene in Gainesville, Georgia.

James was born July 3, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Francis and Geogette (LaPerriere) Lawrence. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, completing four tours of duty in Vietnam.

He spent many dedicated years as a welder with Kubota Manufacturing, where he took pride in his work until retirement. A true biker at heart, James loved motorcycles—whether he was working on them or riding, it was where he felt most at peace.

James will be remembered for his strength, his humor, and his unmistakable, one-of-a-kind laugh that could fill a room and bring smiles to those around him.

Above all, he loved his family deeply and treasured every moment spent with them.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Doris (Walden) Lawrence; his daughter, Mary Lawrence of Minnesota; his sister, Frances Wozniak (Edward) of Florida; his brothers, Carl Rouck of Michigan and William “Bill” Lawrence of Maine; his stepdaughter, Dana Wright of Gainesville; his stepson, Keith Worley of Gainesville; his grandchildren, Tiffany Kirk (Austin) of Dawsonville, Britten Wright of Gainesville, and William “Hunter” Worley of Dawsonville; and his great-granddaughter, Taylor Nettles of Dawsonville; and other numerous loving relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Marilyn Lawrence.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Northeast Georgia Hospice, or any charity organization that you may choose.

Though he may be gone from our sight, his laughter, strength, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Braselton Funeral Home, 5257 Hwy 53, Braselton, Georgia 30517 is in charge of arrangements.  On-line condolences may be left at www.memorialparkfuneralhomes.com.
