Jane Pirkle Pitts, 68, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on June 21, 2026.
Jane was born April 14, 1958, in Gainesville, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Burruss Pirkle and Frank Jackson Pirkle, and by her husband, Dennis Allan Pitts.
Jane is survived by her sisters, Mary Beth Pirkle Strickland and her husband, William Perry Strickland, and Lori Anne Pirkle Roberts and her husband, James Michael Roberts. She is also survived by her nephew, Knox Franklin Roberts (Callie); her great-niece, Freya Raine Roberts, all of Gainesville, Georgia; and her niece, Tatum Elizabeth Roberts of Atlanta, Georgia, along with many beloved cousins, friends, and her loving canine companion, Mattie.
Jane attended Reinhardt College and graduated from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida. After graduating from Florida Southern, she returned to Gainesville, Georgia, where she owned and managed two women’s dress shops, Jane’s and Jane’s Too.
Jane enjoyed spending time with her friends and family in St. Simons Island, Georgia, and Highlands, North Carolina.
Growing up, Jane’s favorite pastime was spending time at the River Farm with Frank, Elizabeth, Beth, and Lori. A devout Christian, Jane was a member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville for more than fifty years. She was also an active member of Wildcat Cliffs Country Club in Highlands, North Carolina.
Jane will be remembered as a humble and kind person who loved caring for others.
The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home Riverside Chapel, 989 Riverside Drive, Gainesville, Georgia. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Concord Baptist Church, 6905 Concord Road, Cumming, Georgia 30028.
Memorial donations may be made to the Ministry of Caring at First Baptist Church of Gainesville, 751 Green Street, Gainesville, Georgia 30501 or to the Hall County Humane Society, 845 West Ridge Road, Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
