Hoschton, Georgia – Jimmy Lee Gardner, Jr. passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Born in Atlanta and raised in East Point, Georgia, Jimmy graduated from Russell High School, Class of 1953. After high school, he attended Georgia Tech and began a very successful 40-year career at J. M. Tull Metals Co. He met his wife Sandra on a blind date in 1954, and they were married two years later. Jimmy was a loving, kind, and patient husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He was a strong man with quiet words, never raising his voice in anger. He relished spending time with family and friends, especially his sons and grandchildren. Watching television was a favorite pastime and family members often found him tuned in to NCIS, Braves baseball or Georgia Tech football. Jimmy was an avid newspaper reader and thoughtfully shared newspaper clippings and online posts with friends and family members on issues that he knew would interest them.
An Episcopalian since 1955, Jimmy served on the vestry and in other ways while attending Church of the Resurrection, East Point, Georgia. When Jimmy and Sandra moved to Stockbridge, Georgia, they became active and faithful members of St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, McDonough, Georgia where they attended for over twenty years.
Jimmy is survived by his spouse of 69 years, Sandra Gardner, son Scott Gardner (Sandy), son Drew Gardner, grandsons Nicholas Gardner (Suzie) and Russell Gardner, granddaughter Leah Gardner, great-grandson Nolan Gardner, nieces Dana Turner (Brandon) and Becky Fletcher, and great-nephews Gavin Fletcher, Hayden Fletcher and Reid Fletcher.
